What sort of "Careers" are we supposed to expect the talent of YSU to have?
you're right, a college coach's job isn't to shape talented athletes to their potential in an attempt to further them in the sport of running no matter what school or division, my mistake
Like so many threads on this site, immature morons come on and take cheap shots at college coaches. I actually do know Coach Gorby. Yes, he is a little different than some, but I do know he yells and supports every kid on his team, in every race, whether they be first or last. He is passionate about the athletes on the team and very proud of them. How competent is he? I'm not qualified to answer that. He works at a place that is a low-ranked university, which is not very attractive, and doesn't have great facilities. I'm sure there are some challenges for him. He tries the best that he can and bleeds for YSU. While I know people who write on this boards criticizing coaches always believe they can do better, but I seriously doubt they can.
I'd do you better.
Probably the biggest D-bag in coaching in ohio....Welcome to the graveyard of running if you go to YSU....destroyer of talent.....
nice cheap shot is either Gorby himself or a member of his "coaching staff"
the guy simply is not a good coach. he doen't know how to coach cross or distance. he is not bad at middle distance. he will lie to you on your recruit visit and promises things you will never see. talk to his athletes most do not like running for him. plus youngstown is a depressing city.
I'm absolutely not a YSU employee, grad, or anything else attached to the university. I do coach in Ohio. No good said it all, youngstown is a depressing city. Imagine coaching there? As I said, I'm not in a position to evaluate him or his coaching, but the guy does love coaching cc/track. If all his athletes dislike him then why do they not transfer out? I'm not sure I have heard of anyone leaving.
