country's longest commute

i know someone who had a 2 hour commute each way but it did not last forever.

A professor of mine in college commuted four hours three times a week. I know its not every day, but still pretty crazy.

a couple of years ago i saw something about this on either the discovery or history channel. i think the longest was 6 hours- the guy never saw his kids- got home at like 11, left for work at 3

St. Louis is about to get really bad. Starting in January, the state is closing major portions of highway (40/64) for construction for several years. All the traffic to and from downtown most likely will get shoved onto the other major East/West artery - Hwy 44. It might double some people's commute. We will soon find out....

Not an everyday commute, but we had a storm in Boston last week that hit around noon. Most companies and schools let people go just as it was winding up. It took me 7.5 Hrs to go the eight miles to my house. Didn't see one plow the entire time, people were just leaving their cars on the side of the road.

Speaking of Boston...a few years ago Jean Shaheen was commuting from the western side of the state to Boston every day or something crazy wasn't she? I think I remember hearing about that on the news and some minor uproar about taxpayer's dollars or something? I might have the details wrong.

I know it doesn\'t count for everyday, but he commuted from California to LSU even when director. I don\'t remember the details but he was very clear that he lived in California.

It was Acting Governor Jane Swift, and she took a state police helicopter home to North Adams so she could beat the traffic on the day before Thanksgiving. That was just the tip of the iceberg for ol' Swifty.

A professor of mine used to drive from red bank new jersey to providence rhode island four times a week. He would drive to and from home every night.

Absolutely absurd.

why didn't cisco help him out with a vpn solution? i hear that they do that kind of thing.

maybe he is a custodial engineer. Hard for VPN to help him. He will virtually clean the toilet.

Connie Putnam, the XC coach from Tufts, used to do the Western MA to Boston commute. I don't know where in Western MA he lived, but regardless, that's completely outrageous.

Took the Bieber bus from Allentown Pa to NYC 2hrs 5 mins plus about 30 mins from Port Auth to gig in Greenwich Village for about 5 months. UGH!! Finally worked out a flex-time schedule, Tues & Wed 10AM-2AM and Thurs 10- 6PM staying in NYC the 2 overnights. Great way to work-- left Tuesday 7 AM returned Thurs 10 PM. Plus on the scheduled 2AM nights usually could get away by midnight. Usually caught an hour and a half or so nap on the bus in too.

Would never think of any drive myself trip over an hour each way.

Shortest commute was literally nextdoor.

I plan on commuting from Israel to New York soon (7000 miles) but just once a month. I know people who go between Israel and LA.
