Lughead,
I tried on a pair of Terroc and they felt GREAT! I love that they are more flexible. The only problem was that the smallest size they had was a 10.5 women's and it was too big. (I wear a women's 9.5, so even a 10 might work). So, now I've got to search around to find another retailer that carries them (the other local stores don't cater to trail runners). I usually drive to the trailhead so I wouldn't be covering much on the roads in them. I really appreciate the info!! I'm excited to move beyond adidas trail shoe, which was feeling increasingly stiff.
There is one that appears to have a more waterproof upper which might be good given Oregon's rainy (and muddy) winter.
Thanks again for the speed suggestions, everyone. I'm definitely the "come from behind" runner, but it's not so much a choice as a reality since I usually *can't* get out there too fast. (So it looks like patience & caution & it's really just slow-twitch! ;-D )
