In Jan 2007, I made a decision to run consistently throughout the year - for health as well as competitive reasons. I was a former D1 runner about ten years ago and still have a bit of the fire.
I've been running fairly consistently the past year (about 20-30 miles a week, sometimes getting up to 40/50).
I'm also a lawyer working close to 80+ hours. I've been able to get the running in whenever I can - in the early morning, late at night, lunch hour etc.
I've been able to do this for about nine months straight. In terms of 'rest' weeks, I would have one or two throughout the nine months, but they consisted of cutting the mileage to about 10 miles or less.
Lately, I've been feeling very tired. Granted it's holiday season and I've been out more and drinking, but I have also seem to have lost that momentum/fire for running. The last few weeks have been pretty 'bad' in terms of training. I've done about 5, 20, and 5. When I'm not running, I'm just sleeping - pulling some monster sleeps of 12+ hours. Also, the weather has gotten significantly colder and the desire to get out is low.
I was wondering if I should just chalk the past three weeks as 'rest' weeks and get started fresh next week?
Could it be that I just need some rest?
Any advice will be much appreciated.
