The deal:
So two months ago I run 11 miles on the treadmill and, in the spirit of "mixing it up" running a hill workout while doing this 11 miles. 3 days later I try to run a workout outside and both of my ITB's are totally F-ed. Don't know what the deal is.
I think maybe my shoes are to blame, too. I was running in Supernovas and changed to Kayanos a couple weeks earlier.
So I change back to Supernovas. I buy a leg roller. I started some active isolated stretching. I ease back on my mileage, and nothing. It starts to feel better when I take time off. I 'll go on the elliptical but the outside of my leg will really tighten up. I got in the pool and when I do sidestroke or breaststroke both of my hips tightened up like crazy and it was a struggle just to keep my legs moving.
When I try running, even jogging slowly for a mile or two. My right knee will be pulling to the outside and then afterwards it will feel very sore along this area. My right calf feels messed up along the outside. Often my hips will tighten up along my back.
I tried to talking to my doctor but it was like talking to a brick wall once I told him I was running 50 miles a week at the time. "50 miles a week! There's your problem right there!" Yeah, know what your problem is? You suck.
I'm at my wits end and don't know what to do. Bought a Pilates tape today. Maybe that will help?
Rambling, I know, but so it goes. Any ideas?
