After a year of absolutely no running with a crushed nerve in my foot I feel like I'm ready to attempt some running again. My foot is definitely not 100% so running will be limited for at least six months but I really need to try to see if I can get away with some running. I have been reassured that as long as I am not getting the severe pain that I was getting I will not slow the healing process.
I can walk for 30 minutes without any pain, I have not done much time on my feet than 30 minutes for a year. I have kept reasonably fit with cycling, cross trainer, swimming and pool running. I was about half a stone over race weight until a couple of weeks ago when I have had to rest with a virus so am now closer to 10 pounds over.
My aim is to work up to 30 minutes running three times a week. Do I go for 30 minutes to start with 1 minutes walk, 1 min jog or just do 5 mins jogging one day then gradually increase? I cannot just 'go and run as much as possible' as I could end up back where I was a year ago
Thanks
