So it's about five below and I'm running in my bacalava, slogging along through the ice and working way to hard to keep up an 8:00 pace. I wonder how much of that can be attributed to the fact that I'm breathing through a piece of cloth and, going off on a little bit of a tangent, whether training like that produces a similar effect to training at altitude. Obviously, it's a different mechanism, but your body is still working harder to get the same amount of oxygen in.
