It's $400 per nite at regular hotels miles out of town. Why didn't they pick L.A. or Sacramento, places that are cities that can handle a large sporting event.

All the hotels I've checked were booked years in advance. I'll be sleeping in the stands, shitting and showering in the locker room.
buy a tent and camp
Or just sleep in your car.
its a good thing they didn't hold it in NYC where the hotel rooms are so expensive..haha...some people are f-in clueless
"Gouging?" It is the free market.
Raising prices can actually make more rooms available. For instance if 4 guys are going to the Trials and rooms are cheap then they each rent a room. If the room price is a bit higher, they double up so 2 more rooms are available.

i think you have been reading thomas sowell.

that sucks. what a pisshole that town is. who\'d want to invest in hotels and tourist attractions in eugene. during the trails, just live amongst the white trash and tree people living on the streets of downtown eugene. you can smoke marijuana, ingest all sorts of drugs, and be lance armstrong. what an eyesore and an embarrasment to the united states that area of the country is.
Feck the hotels go camp out. Spend $10 to go to the gym in Springfield near the freeway to clean up after a run.
What A Flamimng Farting disaster. USATF big shots got free hotel, free airfare, and we get stuck in over-priced shacks. What a rip. The last time the trials should ever be held in little towns with no sports.
USATF is in Indianapolis,...they probably don't get free air OR free hotel. They probably just hop in their car at about 7am and drive over the 1 hour.
HEY! There's an idea....do a priceline for western Indianapolis, save yourself $50-60 minus the $10 gas for the extra driving, get a good nights sleep, and a nice hot shower. Wow, I'm a genius.

Something tells me these guys are talking about the Olympic trials in Eugene, not the NCAA championships in Terre Haute (which I think you are referring to).
No. Most USATF big shots don't live in Indianapolis. The majority are volunteers working for perks only. Plus the Oly Trials are in shitville, oregon (spelled in lower case) this year.
There is no such thing as gouging.
