I am in the middle of the championship season (counties, regionals, and states) and the weather has become relatively cold (low 40s).
I have exercise induced asthma, and take pretty much all the medication available, like advair and albuterol.
I am having a lot of trouble breathing in the cold air, and during races my chest hurts and I feel like I am only getting about half the capacity of air that is normal.
My times have worsened precipitously; the same course for a championship race, I ran 30 seconds slower than that same course earlier in the season.
Any suggestions? Do I need a longer, or faster warmup?
Or is this a mental problem, me believing the fact that my chest hurting is actually slowing me down?
Thanks
