I have 9 weeks to build base over the winter and i want to get up to 70 miles a week. The most i've ever done was 56.
Is this a good build up.

Male, Felmale?
Age?
How long were you at 56?
whats your plan for speed/ tempo?
for a girl
I am a 17 year old male, senior year of high school hit 56 miles a week in the summer. I plan on no speed or temp, just straight up distance.
My progression this winter is gonna go
65/70/70/75/75/80/85/90/90. all at sub 6 minute miles
The most I have ever done before was 55. So stop being a lil bitch about it.
I was contemplating doing nearly the same thing. Having done 56 miles in one week is irrelevant. It depends what you're at now, I presume 40 since the first week in the buildup is 45. The buildup looks good, but you will need plenty of rest and you may have to have one easy week in this buildup. Do only one day at the most of moderate speed in a week.
if you were doing 40 with lots of quality i think youll find 50 to feel ez as long as your running at the right pace. I would suggest taking a down week where you decrease the mileage when you get to around 55-60mi. around that 4th-5th week youre probably going to start to feel the buildup taking its toll.
I like to do as kellog suggests and take 2-3 of ez running between bursts of higher mileage. So if you had 55 planned and did 2 days of low mileage 4-5mi at recovery pace, you would end up at aroundd 45 for the week even though you completed the second half on pace for a 55mi week. I find i recover better than slightly decreasing the mileage all week, it doesnt allow anything to heal when your running 7mi instead of 8mi, whereas 2-3 days in a row of jogging allows me to feel good again and ready for another increase.
college runner, he wasn't bitching about anything
