Well, I read what you wrote and say you're missing the point. What do you even know about Steve? Have you ever even been to his site? Even if you have, you obviously missed the point there as well. From his main page:
"Reason for this site:
The reason that I have started this site is that I feel there is a severe lack of information on elite training out there. Do I consider myself elite? Well not exactly, but I aspire to be, so I created this site to chronicle my attempt at being the best runner I can be and hopefully break into that elite category. The site is extremely simple, because I really don't care much about appearance. It is the content that is of value on this site. I plan on sharing all of my training info which I have learned through study and trial and error in hopes that it will help others. Included in the site will be my logs, so that others can analyze them and see what led to my success and to my failures. When coming up with a training plan, knowing the science of training is very important, but I think a lot of people overlook trial and error and seeing what works that way. That is why I am supplying my training to anyone who wants to see it. In hopes that you can learn from my trial and errors. Enjoy."
You see that last word there? "Enjoy." Why don't you try that, and then decide how much you want to criticize him. We know, we know, you're not bashing him *wink, wink, nudge, nudge*, so we'll just say you're criticizing and leave it at that.
He's a hard-working young buck, just trying to find his way. Who knows, he may ultimately just not be a miler down the road. Maybe he will, maybe he won't. I'm not going to pretend to know. I will say, however, that he obviously has the range to keep his options open to other distances.
Ryan Hall pretty much ran around 4:00 in high school, but eventually found his way to the longer distances that suit him better. That's great. No one would've guessed that he would not develop his mile talents more than he did, but he tried new things and new approaches, and look where he is now. No, I'm not comparing Steve to Ryan, but hopefully you at least get this point.
And please stop it with the "If you can't handle the criticism, don't post stuff online" bull. I'm sure he knows full-well that there will always be critics out there. A lot of people happen to appreciate that he shares his training and thoughts on training the way that he does. He has a better grasp of training and physiology than probably 99% of kids his age. Does he know everything? No. Does he pretend to? No. He's just trying to make a contribution to the running community in a way that he feels might help others. How about you try doing the same.
