Ran a marathon 3 weeks ago, took 1st week off, 1st run was 10 days after, and last week during my 3rd run since the marathon, suddenly my right leg began to hurt right very high up near the joint, about 3 miles into the run.
The pain feels deep and it seems to occur in all phases of the stride. I know that part of this is hamstring related because the week after the marathon I had trouble standing on that leg when putting on a pair of pants and being solely support by the leg- I would nearly collapse to the floor because there was no strength- the hamstring was very sore very high up, and some heat seemed to help that. However, I can also feel pain on the front side of the joint in the groin area- so generally it's like every muscle around the jount seems affected insome way.
This morning's run I felt it again and it seems worse when I try to pick up the pace. Slowing down seems to help.
The pain also seems to radiate up through the buttocks, and also around the hip as if the ITB is involved. Additionally, it might be related to back pain/spasms I was having the 2nd week after the race- those went away after a couple days of ibuprofen.
Damn this hurts, but what the hell is this? Is any of this familiar to anyone here?
