Prefontaine or Without Limits?
Why?
Prefontaine or Without Limits?
Why?
Fire on the Track.
The one where people quit talking about him after they scrape the rock.
Both are quality movies. I could watch either one over and over.
dazed & confused defintely the best
The one where he dies.
You forgot the best one.
FIRE ON THE TRACK.
Q
A serious answer:
Prefontaine is more accurate, though Without Limits is more entertaining (and it has that hot Pink Power Ranger girl in it).
Overall Fire on the Track is the best; It's a documentary though.
You do know that K. Moore spent a number of
weeks with Pre's lady! Listening to the
most intimate of detail. I cannot debate
you as I will not dishonor your perceptions.
But I will point out one, *of many*, details
that are so very true. (you have read Pre?).
When Pre ran with his mates, he often
would not tell them when he was going to
make a turn. (reminiscent of his run in the
rain with Moore and ? down the trails in
the rain.) He turned and they slid down
the muddy hill. Not that this event actually
happened; but, many many more like it did.
Without Limits has detail in it that you would
have to know; because it escapes you if you
don't. Have you read the book?
Cheers.
K. Moore was the directing energy behind
Without Limits!
Q
Without limits is my favorite, but I have a soft spot for Prefontaine the runner playing Viren is a good friend from high school. "Woosh"
Prefontaine seemed to capture Pre's spirit better. Jared Leto's acting was more effective. Even though Without Limits had a better quality to it = more money behind it. Prefontaine captured the great story of Pre's Legacy. Fighting for athletes rights. Without Limits left out Pre's fight with the AAU to bring the Finns over so he could kick Viren's butt. That was a big focus in Prefontaine. Which sadly ended up being his last race, running against Frank Shorter (minus Lasse Viren) after he pulled out. I was bummed that Without Limits did not have a soundtrack available. Great songs. Prefontaine has a awesome soundtrack available.
Yes Pre Runner!
I agree with you on those points
and appreciate your depiction of them.
Why they were left out of WL I do not
know and, honestly, have not considered
this until now.
And, yes, I to like better the Pre
soundtrack; coming from that school
of rock.
Cheers

Fire on the Track
because it documents reality .. .. . ...
is still my favorite;
but I will watch them all again;
as I've done before!
There are different elements of both movies that I like. Overall, I prefer Without Limits because it's just a better quality film. I just wish there were some storyline details from the Disney movie that made their way into Without Limits.
And I disagree that Leto played Pre better than Crudup. I mean, Leto did play up the cocky/firey aspect of Pre, but he didn't really look or sound like him.

i'll second that, didn't know much about pre growing up in ireland, but after living in the states for a few years i have to say that Prefontaine was a better movie than without limits.
in saying that thought Fire on the track is out there on its own against any running movie/docu.
i prefer without limits, crudup just has a slightly more mysterious aura about him, and seems to portray more pig-headedness than Leto, having said that, i love abit of Leto's band, so its really a tough question!!!
(Crudup has better Pre hair)
