best coach - Mark Covert @ Antelope Valley JC in So Cal. Bank it
Central Arizona is great program, with lots of foreign talent. California junior colleges cannot give scholarships to foreigners. There are also some other good Arizona and Kansas jucos. Check previous years' results from cross country and track.
UTEP
orange coast college is always at or near the top, they are coached by marco ochoa who was 4th in the marathon trials one year best of 213, dave fier who is very enthusiastic about running and dave parsel who won the state 10k in the mid 1980's and who is now over 50 years old and can still run a 16 minute 5k.
If he won the state 10K in the mid-1980s at age 22 he would not be close to 50. Stop bullshitting.
garden city community college in kansas, delgado has had some serious studs there
if you're looking for one of the most consistantly great teams in the juco area, look at Butler Community College. Ever since Kirk Hunter has been there the teams (BOTH women and men) are always national contenders. and if you just throw around the name "kirk hunter", you'll always hear great things. everyone that has been through his program and went on somewhere else after their two years at Butler wishes that he was still their coach. great guy, great program.
That's not surprising given the great work that Kirk did at Colby CC before that.
Check out Rend Lake, coach Mclain is one of the best guys out there
I agree you could not go wrong with Butler CC and Coach Kirk Hunter!!
American River College - Carmichael (Sacramento), CA
While I belive the California JUCO's are good......I don't think they will be able to help out the international athlete.
Central Arizona, Rend Lake, South Plains, Butler, and Iowa Western

Good job of staying on point. OP, you can forget CA JC's, or those in Maricopa County (Phoenix) system. Check out NJCAA nationals results and look for names that sound Kenyan. Those guys can't afford a plane fare, let alone to pay their way in school. By using my tried & true system you can save yourself a lot of wasted time.
Jeez - it's not rocket science.
It really gets my goat when bigger ay-holes than me waffle on about such & such a coach, or such & such a program, when it would have no relevance/totally impractical for a foreign athlete to even apply there.

Iowa Western????
UTEP Thats too good!!!
Morcelli and a whole bunch of african runners ran at riverside jc years ago... in california.
California junior colleges dont offer scholarships but there are plenty of good coaches and programs out there... Plus you can't beat the weather.
Ted Banks was the coach at Riverside when they had all the Africans. He was also the coach at UTEP when they had all those Africans.
i never said he was 22 in the 1980's he went to orange coast out of high school played football for 2 years, became a runner after his football eligibility was up, and about 10 years later ran cross country and track where he won the junior college title. runnersworld did an article on him.
Colin Sahlman runs 1:45 and Nico Young runs 1:47 in the 800m tonight at the Desert Heat Classic
Molly Seidel Fails To Debut As An Ultra Runner After Running A Road Marathon The Week Before
Megan Keith (14:43) DESTROYS Parker Valby's 5000 PB in Shanghai
Hallowed sub-16 barrier finally falls - 3 teams led by Villanova's 15:51.91 do it at Penn Relays!!!
