Dude, you're 0 for 6.
Dude, you're 0 for 6.
I'm going to go with my two favorites which have already been mentioned
When the Levee Breaks (just flat out amazing and my favorite song on IV/zoso whatever you want to call it)
A Day in the Life (my favorite Beetles song)
Don't know if it's been mentioned but "Jungleland" is the best album ender ever.

I see. And you are the judge and jury for determining what constistutes a good closing track for an album? I'm sorry my opinions do not match yours, your honor. Thanks for the reality check.
Pearl Jam- Release, off of Ten. The music and lyrics of release serve such a fitting end to the album's mostly dark and complex subject matter.
King of Tyrus wrote: Bob Dylan has had some great ones: Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands - Blonde on Blonde, Desolation Row - Highway 61
Here's some other great closing tracks by bob that haven't yet been mentioned in the thread:
Highlands - Time out of Mind
Froggie Went a Courtin' - Good as I Been to You
Are you Ready - Saved
Sara - Desire

This is an easy one:
"Jungleland" off of Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen
Or the song Darkness on the Edge of Town on Springsteen's album of the same name:
"Be there on time, pay the cost for wanting things that can only be found in the darknesss on the edge of town."
ahh good call with Release. Amazing closing track to an amazing rock album. If you put that album on repeat its hard to tell where the cd stops and starts.

Yeah, but Highlands tops them all!
Also, Soncic Youth - Diamond Sea.

Great one!
I'm embarrassed to say that I only listened to the Born to Run album in its entirety yesterday....and I third the Jungleland suggestion. Just a great way to end that album.

I second Jungleland. There could be no better ending to that album. Not even Born to Run, itself, would be a better ending to that album.
"Waterloo Sunset" from "Something Else" by The Kinks
"Sunset" from "Street Life" By Roxy Music
"Hotel Womb" from "Starfish" by The Church...
Plus one that almost no one knows and which I can't even find on CD, "Mary Marie" from "Dreamtime" by Tom Verlaine
one I loved when I was younger
Only in Dreams - Weezer
The closing song to the Doors first album is a happy little ditty entitled The End - I think perhaps one or two of you have heard of it.

You are welcome.
BTW, it's not so much about the closing tracks as it is about the albums and artists (?) you chose. Not to worry. Your tastes will continue to evolve and you'll move past this stage in time. Be patient.
The original release of one of the greatest albums of all time: The Who - "Who's Next", with "Won't Get Fooled Again".

That doesn't sound like it has a very good closing track then. I think a closing track should provide some kind of closure.

Must have been Roger Waters' "thing," because he did it on at least one of his solo CDs (Amused to Death - which, BTW, has a great set of closing tracks IMHO).
A lot of great ones here.
I like the Black Crows Descending off Amorica. It's just a great end to an album.
i like Bends, but i still think Radiohead is severly overrated. good music, but no meat.
