i lied, it most certainly is but this may actually be somewhat interesting.
i got injured during the summer, but i did manage a very solid june, july and first week of august building up to about 80mpw in singles. my aerobic was the best it had ever been but i only got in a few good workouts before i got a stress fracture (didnt know at the time) and had to take about 3 weeks off. I came back for a little but after less than a week i felt the pain returning so i just started biking, but that didnt help either. So now, i have again returned now knowing i had a stress fracture but backed off early enough that it is pretty much healed now.
I have no been running for a little over a week now and I am able to complete most of our runs at the pace I was used to before i got hurt.
Yesterday I did my first workout in an attempt to be able to come back for our conference race and it went pretty terribly.
we did 3x200, 6x1k, 3x200 all with 1:1 rest (200s on track and 1ks on xc course)
i went 31,34,33...3:26, 3:32, 3:33 (i was told that i could either do 3 or 4 at the beginning, and i felt like crap through 3 but i was told to just jog the last one to get more time on my feet) 3:50, 32, 32,30
last year i did this workout averaging the same for the 200s but about 3:19 for the 1ks and the next week I ran low 29 for 8k.
we are doing a 5k road race this week and my coach wants me to try it out despite my obvious lack of fitness.
prs go 2:00 800, 4:39 mile, 17:40 5k, 28:55 8k, 36:50 10k, 56:10 15k
what do you all think i can go for 5k
i am gonna say 18:30 but i even doubt that
