Im a senior in High School. What NC college is the best to go to for running, more than likely to walk on? i.e. 16:36 5K and 4:32 mile

Run for? Duke.
Walk on? Brevard.
run for campbell, help them build their program
With those times I would give you the short list of UNCC, UNCW, UNCG, App. Talk to the coaches.
Warren-Wilson. No track team, but those times would suffice for their cross team. Located right outside of Asheville.
I would go to UNC and get a part time job handing out towels to the women's CC team. Chance to get some of that action, I'd pay for that.
on what you are looking for...those were my times and i chose a small school with great academics, Davidson. I really developed there and came out with some pretty solid PRs (of which a 30:14 10k is my best). the academics there were sometimes at odds with intense training, but i loved it. NC state has a great program, but you would have to walk on and jump into some pretty deep water with those PRs. but that could be what you need, who knows. for running, the smaller UNCs(G,A,C,etc.) would suit you, plus app., which is probably the strongest program besides state in my mind. coach curcio is a nice guy, always was supportive of me (though not my coach) and turns out quality athletes. the coaches at UNCC and UNCA will develop those programs and i think they will get better in the coming years...it might be pretty fun to be a part of that. though i don't know him very well, i ran against him briefly in college and high school, it would fun to run for jesse norman, a young guy who is still a quality runner. when i was in college, wake was pretty competitive, but i don't much about it now. it is great academically, though. UNC-CH is an enigma. you'd have to ask someone else about that. good luck with your search.
brent
AppState has a very solid squad each year and the coach knows what he's doing. You could probably walk on with those PRs. Boone and the surrounding areas are beautiful places to run. AppState is a pretty decent place to get an education as well. Check them out.
try Fayetteville state. Or Fayetteville Christian.
wonderful schools full of wonderful peoples. With those times thats what you should shoot for.
God Bless.
Go to App State and run for Curcio. No one else in North Carolina has been consistently successful as a team, not just with a guy or two, with guys in your PR range.
I would look first at the academics (what programs interest you?), before I looked at the running programs. With running, you pretty much have to expect to eventually need a day job. I honestly don't know that much about the running programs in NC. I think you could certainly develop as a runner, and I strongly recommend that you run in college. As a college runner myself, I think running has definitely given me the balance in my life necessary to be successful at both school and running. As a previous poster stated, Davidson is very strong academically, and they seem to have a pretty decent running program, as well. Obviously, Duke and UNC are good running/academic schools. Like someone else said, contact the coaches. If you go to a more competitive running school, as you probably already know, you will get to train with some pretty amazing athletes, but don't expect to compete as much as you did in hs. Good luck!!
Oh, and I just thought of another good academic/running school in NC-Wake Forest (again, don't know that much about it).
took visits to wake, davidson, and unc
liked wake a lot and thought a lot of the coaching staff there, they have a few good guys in the distances but not enough for them to turn you down i suppose, also a great school and small which can be nice
davidson is really small but a pretty cool atmosphere, i liked it the best of the three but decided against it because of being in the SOCON and not having the same type athletic budget or facilities as the bigger schools
unc is great academically and incredibly cheap in-state, one of the best buys for education, the team has seem a lot of ups and downs on the guys distance side, didnt get a real warm feeling like they wanted me there, but again that is just a personal experience
didnt really look at anywhere else in NC but know that state has a pretty solid program but the word is a lot of their guys get hurt
just call the coaches and take some school tours on the weekend, if u have any friends at the schools go chill with them for a night or two and get a feel
My former college coach coaches at Wingate University...He was knowledgeable and very energetic about running and coaching...I learned a great deal from him...From what he has told me the university there is great...good location (near Charlotte) with plenty of good programs....They only have cross but from what he said they are adding track soon (maybe this year)
To add to Queens, here's another school you might try that's in the same conference. You can probably get some good scholarship money there, especially if your grades are up. The guys team hasn't lost conference in forever and the rest of us in the conference pretty much never have a chance against them.
Why is your 5K so slow compared to your comparatively faster mile time? You need to log more mileage and get stronger!!

Why not go run for this guy?

Because he'll only be there as long as it takes him to get a "better" job. (Or get fired.)
Boone is a beautiful place and enrollment of 15k is good. Not too big or too small, plus public school fees since you're walking on are reasonable. Don't get lost in the "triangle"), just my opinion.
