ask the guys on the circuit. They will tell you.
without a doubt
WILSON KIPKETER
anyone ever seen his 3 WR's? how you can run that fast and that smooth is unbelievable.
and to the guy who said he looks the same as the others when "rigging" I can assure you - he doesnt.
Naw, when Kipketer is rigging, his head goes up and down like a bobble toy. Very smooth dude, but he's still human, sometimes : ].
Okayo floats along. Very smooth.
Tanaguchi ran 2:07.
Best form: Wang Junxia, Olga Yegorova, Waldemar Cierpienski
Worst form: Frank Shorter, Paula Radcliffe

Many bests, but the worst i've seen:
Pat Peterson...Gary Rommesser
They were/are great though
Pat Peterson is my pick among male runners for worst form.
It's surprising to see Shorter on someone's "worst form" list. I always thought that he had a very elegant running style. Some might see it as a bit dainty, I suppose.
I have to admit that I really dislike Paula R's running form, especially when she accessorizes with the high-top socks and nose strip.
For good running form among the women, I look to the top Ethiopian runners. Mary Decker Slaney at her prime also deserves mention.
Had a guy on my D3 team (SUNY-Binghamton) by the name of Art Gunther who was a multiple All-American -- unbelievably bad form. Limp wrists, stooped, tended to sit back like Salazar when he got tired. But he did place in the top five at track nationals a few times, so whatever works...
I think Slattery is a really smooth looking runner and probably the best hurdler in the world.
Bekele, just looke at his turnover and high back kick
Tergat always made it look effortless. He always maintained perfect form even when running over broken ground.
A worst vote goes to Dave Bedrord, leaned way forward of his hips.
Agree that Tergat was absolutely smooth.. loping stride..
similar to this women Gete Wami.. Smoothest runner ever
EL G IS MY PICK FOR BEST FORM.
Leonard Mucheru has an awsome form!!!
Best Edwin Moses.
Best: Geb, Kipketer
Worst: The Chinese woman who runs with her arms hanging straight down--it's just painful to watch.

Really? I think Allen Johnson might have several things to say about that.
Allen Johnson is the best guy at running a hundred metres while being relatively unaffected by the barriers but he's not a good hurdler.
Naturally marathoners and mid-distance track runners will look quite a bit different when running their races (Khannouchi at ~4:45 per mile vs. El G at ~3:45 per mile). My picks are:
Best form, mid distance:
Geb, Bekele, Ayhan (Ayhan especially in comparison to other female mid distance runners: much smoother, less trunk rotation, no overstriding, slight forward lean all the way up from the ground, not from the waist)
Best form, long distance:
Tergat, Khannouchi
Worst form, mid distance:
Jacobs (trunk rotation)
almost any female 400 runner who runs a lap of the 800 as a rabbit (watch the overstriding, head bobbing, and braking, very predictable, almost every time)
Worst form, long distance: can't think of any single one that particularly stands out
WTF?! Allen Johnson not a good hurdler. His mastery of the mechanics of hurdling puts him in a different league than Slattery, the one where you have a WR in fact. Get your shit together man, it's 110meters anyways.
the worst of the worst was canadian Paul McCloy...he was all over the place...referred to as "3 lane McCloy" because you had to go all the way out to the third lane to get around the huy...that being said, in his day, he could motor.
Look at Zatopek's form and face at the start of this video racing against Kuts.
So fast, so ugly!
