I'll go first....haven't broken 20:00 for a 5K since 10/20/91. Heaviest weight of my entire life right now, 202 lbs. Ready for a big comeback, but can anyone top this at the moment?

Thank god, NO.
Hell, that time could get you number five man on GW (seriously). Have you used up all of your eligibility?
I ran 1.3 miles in 10:42 this morning.
Going out on a limb, I am going to guess that no one is going to post that they can beat that (not that they're not out there). Good luck on that BIG comeback and do not neglect to give us the whole success story in detail next year.
Maybe you can even post a picture of yourself next year wearing and holding out your jeans that you're wearing this year (kind of like Jared in the Subway commercials)... just kidding, but serious in that I hope the comeback goes well, and I'm glad you're "ready" (smile).
We did 6.4 miles last night, managed to get back to the car in just under 1:50 -- hurrying because it was getting darker by the second. Don't know what took so long, all the creek crosssings were dry. The two washouts weren't that bad. We only stopped to watch the porcupine for a couple of minutes. The 800' of climb during the mile and a half up from the bottoms might have slowed us down a bit. I think we'll be down to 12s before Halloween. We'll start carrying flashlights next week, just in case.
This entire thread should be deleted. There can be no argument that this thread is related to the highest level of our sport. 20 minutes is just plain old disgusting even for a girl.
Good point on the relatedness to the highest level of our sport. Maybe the original question should have been, something like...
I am planning a HUGE comeback of 20min to 15:XX in the next year. What is the greatest comeback you've ever completed or witnessed?
I am. I couldn't run a 9-minute mile right now.
Dude mine is simple. Knew this dude who broke his neck completely in 5 places, C3, C4, and C5---less than one (1) milimeter from death.....came back to run at a slightly competitive level....think he was all conference or some jazz like that. Would say that wasn't so bad.
Running 15 is no big deal in and of itself.
"Running 15 is no big deal in and of itself." - Mr. Bush
Certainly not. But it's not too bad after one year of training (after several years of relative inactivity and 20min 5Ks). BUT, I guess the dude with a broken neck went from not running at all to running well. I guess, for comparison sake, one would have to ask what could the dude with the broken neck run when he was able to run at all?
ya breaking 15mins is easy i did it last week 4 times during my runs its so easy everybody does it - future quote of mr bush
53 + for a 10k recently.
My improvement from two years ago to this past summer was pretty great. In December of 2000, I went for a 3 mile run after several months of running just 2-3 times a week and only about 2 miles each time. After Thanksgiving I had ballooned up to 181 pounds (at 5'4", that is pretty FAT). That 3 mile run was done in 27 minutes, and it was hard. By the next summer I had lost some of the 48 pounds I needed to lose and ran a still very slow 21:17 5K. This past summer I lost all the weight down to 133 pounds and ran a 5K in 16:49. Not quite in that shape this very day, but I don't plan to get back up to 181 ever again.
Dammit man,
I'd bet there are few on this board that would argue running 15xx is more difficult than dropping 50lbs. That's seriously impressive. Game ball - Stepay.
Thanks brother.
I let the weight slowly creep on and kept eating like a pig and let myself tell myself that I could simply because I just ran 12 miles. Not everyone needs to watch what they eat, but I'm not one of those guys.
Don't get to excited...Oprah did it too.
Not sure I know what you mean brother, but OK, I won't get excited - whatever that means. :)
Instead of deleting thread, how about deleting Mr. Bush!
