after listening to both new albums i'd say 50 cent shouldn't be considered an artist. lyrically boring and redundant, the only redeeming qualities are contributed by guest artists.
although with kanye, he creates awesome sounds and musical ideas, then all too often lets them repeat over and over until i'm almost sick of them.
comparing the two though it's hands down that kanye is better.
oh, and i guess you could tie this to running by saying that you listen to them while running sometimes, which I do.
50 cent represents everything that is wrong with hip hop today. street cred has become more important than having a good voice, interesting lyrics, etc. I will say that he does have a distinctive voice, but that's only because he has a speech impediment. he can't pronounce the words completely. listening to 50 cent is like looking at a sloppy artist's drawings of guns and sex. it's cool though because the artist's drawing impediment can be attributed to his hand getting shot off in a gunfight.
kw is much better than 50
Musically Oscar Peterson could learn from them both.

Here are some questions for fans of Kanye and 50.
How old are you, what is your education level, and what do you do for a living?
Age: 33
Undergrad: Phi Beta Kappa from large, well-known public university
Grad: Law degree from Top 5 law school
Occupation: Attorney at international law firm
My guess is that most of these other rap fans are similarly well-educated, if that was your point.
Kanye's music is better than 50, but man is he a pompous moron.

In terms of lyrics, Kanye is pretty weak and straight up a bit elementry. He's constantly changing the sounds of words to make them rhyme, or he just rymes the same words over and over and over, but you can't deny his production and beats. He's one huge hook.
50's first ablum was great, but not only has each album gotten worse, but many of his hits sound so similiar in lyrical styling and flow that it goes to show his range (Listen to Candy Shop and then Magik Stick). Plus, if I hear another rhyme about teflon being on his chest, i might puke.
I think gansta rap is dead, or at least changing. The inspiration from Young Jeezy is probably the last good gansta album, but the entire genre is heading more towards hip hop pop.
That being said, graduation has some great songs, I think half the album is just amazing, and the other half is just average.

Kanye West, Through the Wire
Pre would a rapped them both into Nether NetherLand and
make them feel like they were Michael Jackson clones.
You wanna hear talk talk music? You just find some Footage
and listen to Pre.
He could'a rapped just as fast as he ran.
You don't get it? Just take a trip back into
Time! And you'll see that Pre knew all about Time;
and that It WAS on It's side.
You say He died "before His Time"! I say He died "EXACTLY"
on TIME!!!
Look at your stop watch. What does it say? Is it "on Time"?
Do you think that the West is on good Time?
Do you reckon that 50 Cent is Time well spent?
Do you think that Pre's Time influenced History?
What will people say about the West in 30 years?
What will people say about the value of 50 Cent in 30 years?
Pre rocked "and" Pre talked "and" Pre rapped "and" Pre
ROLLED.
god love em'!!!!!!! !!!!!
50 is artistically garbage compared to Kanye West. Kanye's College Dropout and Late Registration are generally regarded as classics by rock, dance, and hip-hop critics. I believe Late Registration was the first album to get a five star rating from Rolling Stone in almost 7 years. 50 cent is nowhere near musically talented as West, but he may have sold more albums. However, after Get Rich or Die Tryin' the quality and consistency of his work has fallen drastically. Meanwhile, Kanye has maintained his quality with Graduation, though it is not quite as sublime a record as Late Registration. Kanye's sound is unique. You to put him up there with people like Outkast, Public Enemy, Timbaland, and a Tribe Called Quest as far artists and producers who push the sound of hip-hop to an innovative edge.
