Ahh, nothing like getting called a moron out of the blue by an annonymous letsrunner who can\'t keep facts seperate from myth.
First off- as far as the number of uninsured being \"nowhere near the 47 million figure you and other...\" -I never but any numbers in my post, so how about you read a little bit before you start typing.
-What is the real number? The 47 million is reported by many sources, but I believe it\'s 47 million at any time in the past year, not all at one time, so you can debate that. Physicians for a national health plan has a lot of details on their website-
http://www.pnhp.org-at least you\'ll have some actual facts.
-As far as your comment about the 12 million illegal immigrants being uninsured- actually not all are uninsured. Some get plans through work, some qualify for state plans for low income patients, but not all are uninsured. You can certainly argue that that is not right, but you\'re wrong if you think they are all automatically uninsured.
-I\'d love to see your source on the 38% of the uninsured that are over the median national income- sounds like bullshit to me, and I highly doubt you can find me something reliable on it. I sure can\'t find anything on it.
Finally, if you think this is not a crisis, think a little more about the overall problems in healthcare. If you think its fabulous that we spend twice as much per capita as other developed countries, but yet die younger, spend more of our lives in hospitals, and have more kids die as infants, then yes, theres no crisis. And yes, the fact that we\'re the only country with a large portion of our population uninsured has something to do with that. Most thinking people with knowledge of the field are a little more worried than you are, but hey, ignorance is bliss.
