I live in Baltimore. Nothing happened here on 9/11 other than the fact that we are the closest major city to DC (40 miles or so) and are on the same I-95 corridor as NYC.
There are no remembrances here, no readings of names, etc. that commemorated the anniversary.
However...
...there was the "Charm City Run to Remember 5k/1mile walk" today downtown, to benefit the Baltimore City Police and Fire Departments.
Now, I'm all for the PD and FD having their benefit races/events, but it seems a bit odd to have co-opted 9/11 and turned it into "race day."
Thoughts?
FYI: they did offer prize money - $250 to the winner, $125 second, $100 third - both men and women.
