AMEN-SIGL WILL
AMEN-SIGL WILL
I hate to say this but Cortland will have more than one all american, i can assure you of this. Their coach has a great system - look at their results last year in xc and on the track. Dubois, Wager and Nally will all make AA
It seems to be a deep year upfront with fast times and strong contenders - i can't even begin to try and rank anyone
Kosgei and sigl upfront for the win - it'll be great to watch
Kosgei will run sub-24. Enough said.......
sub 24 at St. Olaf? Are you nuts? and Kosgei? Have you ever seen how he races? He sits on whoever is leading and kicks. No way in heck will he ever run that fast of a time unless he's in a race where someone else is going almost that fast, and if Sigl ran 24:01 at Oshkosh, no way he's running sub 24 at St. Olaf.
Kosgei doesn't stay at the back of the pack always.Did you see him in the regionals?
The course is FAR different then it was when
Bak ran 25 flat for the Win back in 2002. Take out the hardest part of the course and you make it 20-25 seconds faster, and the footing seems much better as well. Still, sub24 is out of the question. I think Erichsen will win with a 24:25-30.
Why did they make the course so much easier? It would have been nice if they had just left it alone to build some history on the course.
Kosgei finished 25th at the Utica Boilermaker 15k wearing warm-ups (he forgot his shorts and it was 90 degrees) The runners ahead of him mostly world-class Kenyans. We have yet to see what he can really do.
wow great argument there- bringing up a race from over the summer that was run in nowhere near cross conditions. i think it was brought up on page 2 of the thread, and it was dropped around there as well, for good reason.
Yes, the Boilermaker was long ago, and of course it is a road race. But still an impressive effort off little summer training with no incentive to race hard. Have you seen Kosgei run ?

jordahl will be tough and i think zerzan is back after winning last year, right?
The girl who was runner up to Zerzan last year got smashed at the mid-east regional by Fisher of Elizabethtown. Maybe she's a contender? they ran at Lehigh which is a pretty fast course, but 21:18 is very good.[quote]spunkitt wrote:
I don't think you can use any placement from last years national meet as a reason...that course was one-of-a-kind to say the least and brought in elements these girls will not and have not faced this year.
Still, I pick Zerzan to take it with jordahl being a close second. Montgomery from geneseo should be up there too--being a national competitor the last few years, but never taking it--she's got to be wanting it pretty bad.
Zerzan just ran 20:51 (unchallenged) on a muddy course not known for being fast. The next fastest time from last weekend was 15 seconds slower at OshKosh, a fast course run in good conditions. The race will not be close.
The west region has strong individuals this year on the women's side. I think they'll have at least 4 in the top 15.
less than 48 hours left. who's excited?
The course had to be changed because some sort of pipeline is being constructed right through the part of the course that has been removed. It is the same course that was run at Pre-Nats and Regionals.
Kosgei FTW
as much as I hate to say it NYU for the title
Zerzan FTW
Amherst Geneseo or Plattsburgh for the title
eh what the hell Plattsburgh for the title
If it was a muddy course and originally a not fast course, they cut it. Because no way can is she THAT good. Either it was super short, or it was a super fast course. She will be challenged by Wizowaty, Montgomery, Busby, Jordahl, Erb and a couple others, for at least 2.5 miles...I can see Jordahl or Wizowaty staying with her until the end...I'd like to see a surprise finish from Busby...who knows, wierd things happen at NCAA's...pressure is a bitch, and right now Zerzan has all the pressure in the world, and has not had as strong of a season as last year time wise on the same courses...mark my words, she will be beat by someone! Kosgei FTW, Calvin FTW and Washington FTW
Sigl, Kosgei, Sigl, Kosgei, Sigl, Kosg---I can't take it anymore.
Abdallah for the win....obviously just kidding.
Despite being from the Northeast, I have yet to see Kosgei in action. Though, he does sound like an incredible talent. Sigl is tough, ballsy and very experienced competing at this level. It should be a great battle. Given that this race has been turned into a two, possibly three man show before it has even begun, I would love to see someone else stick their nose in it and come away with the suprise victory, particularly if the aforementioned runners make the mistake of entering this race thinking they only have one or two other competitors to worry about. I'm crossing my fingers for that kid, Boggs, he seems tight.

No, they didn't cut the course or anything like that, she's just really fast. She beat the course record by 33 seconds.
