The Great lakes region has 7 ranked in the top 31
The West has 6 ranked in the top 31.
The Mountain region has 6 ranked in the top 31.
Scoring it as a cross country meet, I.E. each ranking as a place scoring 5 Mountain 49 Great Lakes 73 West 79
I realize that there is no way that all the teams ranked from these regions will qualify for nationals.
So which region is the best? The mountain.
The South
I would have to agree that mountain is the toughest region. But Great Lakes is definitely right there behind them. I think it's the training at altitude that helps prepare the mountain teams for these sea-level races, it gives them an advantage.
The rankings don't mean a thing right now. Most of the top 20 haven't even raced full teams yet. This weekend will give us a better idea of who is good or not. The poll right now is biased. How does Washington almost get beat by Texas A&M, who are ranked 4th in the South Central, and stay in the top 30? So, if UW is ranked 4th in the West, does that mean the West and the South Central are just as strong?? I doubt it.
ITS NOT EVEN A QUESTION, MOUNTAIN REGION BY FAR PACKS THE MOST ARTILLERY.
