Then when you figure that 20 of those points for the US were scored by Kenyan born Lagat - which would shoot Kenya up to 74 points - you see a tremendous meet for Kenya. (Especially, when you add the 10 points in for the win in the 800!)
Personally, I think it was a good meet for the US distance runners. I can't entirely buy into the medal mentality - that is, a medal is the end all and be all whereas a fourth place is of no more meaning than last place. Lagat was clearly the standout, but I also think having guys in the top ten in the 10k, 5k, and 1500 is quite good. Of course we want better, but let's give these guys their due -they're damn good as world class competitors. Not up to Kenyan or Ethiopian standards perhaps, but next in line and tightening the gap.
