Overly optimistic prediction:
1 Lagat
2 Mottram
3 Limo
Gouch at the back. Mottram moving up from the back on the outside. Teg in the middle. 2 to go. 11:56 or something with 800 to go. I missed the 4k split.
Bell lap coming. Stretched big time now and Mottram is gone!
It's not overly optimistic to predict Lagat to win. He is the best 1500m runner in there and it is a 1000m race now after all the jogging.
Lagat is moving! Come on Lagat!
Lagat first and Teg fourth.
LAGAT!!!!!!
Teg possibly 3rd
HOLY SHIT LAGAT
Teg so close!!!!!
Choppy coverage, but Lagat takes it! Teg 4th. Close finish! 13:45.07 or .87.
Times?
Kipchoge second and Kipsiro third. Teg about a tenth out of a medal. Just ran out of room.
damn, Teg was so close.
Mottram a nonfactor as he went backward when the fast running started.
Lagat, Kipchoge, ?, Teg.
US distance running back on the map.
Lagat just pulled off the 1,500/5,000 double. Matt Tegenkamp just missed the bronze medal. Very slow race; absolutely tactical.
yep teg so close just three hundreths away from third....race was super slow than a 52 s last lap....kipchoge seemed surprised to see lagat pull up along side him just after the 100m to go mark. lagat looked very comfortable kicking from 200m.
This is the first successful 1,500m/5,000m double win at the World Championships. This matches Lagat's hero, Hicham el Guerrouj, who won the same double at the Athens Olympics; before that, it had only been done by Paavo Nurmi.
Webb should have run the 5000.
