Not to hijack----
I am always amazed at how many younger guys (I am assuming the poster is also a younger guy) notice the spikes people wear in races.
I watched the 1500m intently, looking at position, form, strategy, etc. I couldn't tell you anything about the spikes people were wearing. BTW, I am 40.
When I talk with guys who are 19-25, they all notice some new spike or something about shoes.
Has style overtaken substance? Is how you look better than how you perform?
He's just curious. Some people have an eye for detail. No biggie. Sorry though, Mr. OP, not sure about the spikes.
Well, you don't notice it from the video.
It's the pictures you notice it. If you look at pictures where lagat is crossing the finish line, you'll see about 20 pairs of gleaming white shoes.
Young people are always brand conscious, especially junior high girls. They will put brand name over quality EVERYTIME.
Drives a parent crazy.
You do know that the main reason shoe companies sponsor athletes is because they want people to BUY their products. If no one noticed what the athletes were wearing then the money would dry up.....

These pictures you speak of, could you provide a link?
most of them are probably the jasari 3's or vent 2's to be released in january 08 or maybe a personalized pair.
The original poster works for Nike and was assigned to LetsRun to create buzz.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
