Does anyone know if you can do this? Is it too rocky or would this be a decent run?
Any other cool places to run in Newport, RI?

I tried it back a few years ago in the summer. The thing looked great in theory, but trust me, its not good for running. There is one spot in particular that is usually filled deep with water, and many spots way too narrow to negotiate. In the summer, the path is filled with obese tourists with cameras out for a stroll, and there is a heavy border of hedges as well- nasty to run into. Its really impossible to have a satisfying run. There are short stretches that are OK, but I would look elsewhere.
You might want to consider running one block inland. The "cottages" which are actually mansions face the water and the Cliff Walk, as well as front on a street. Those streets are reasonably quiet and have some great views of the properties, so might be fun to run!
actually I went to school in Newport last year and routinely ran the cliff walk on my longer runs. its really busy in the summer, but in any other part of the year its fine for atleast 2-3 miles.
Definitely not a good place to run. Narrow and filled with tourists and baby strollers. A better idea would be to run out past Easton's Beach towards Middletown. Continue straight past beach, up and over hill to second and third beaches. There are trails at end of road there, nice long flats on the way out. I'll be running that area this weekend myself.
