Damn good for him. I do not know this guy. That is most likely the ASEAN Record (ASEAN are the 11 Countries of Southeast Asia).

The Vietnamese 1500 runners are OK.
There was an Indonesian woman named Supriati who retired due to marriage about 3 years ago who was pretty good, about 33 for 10km.
There is a lot of talent for running in Southeast Asia, but there are a lot of cultural barriers in the way. Women are not encouraged to run at all due to the prejudices against dark skin and muscular legs.
The top sport out here is soccer, followed by various martial arts and takraw (volleyball but no hands are used.)
I think running is an extremely admirable sport, but, I've always thought takraw was an otherworldly event. Check these snippets out:
If you think takraw is cool, do a youtube search on
"Burmese Boxing" or "Burmese Fighting."
They make the Muay Thai guys look like pussies.
