How long do you train per week total? How long do pro athletes train? 100 miles per week is way less than 6 hours for some top athletes.

unless they are going way faster than 4 minutes per mile for all their mileage it isn't.
I meant way less than 10

That's possible, but I don't think it's "way" less for too many. Do a search on Mottram's and Geb's training on here. My recollection is that in both cases you're talking at least 12 and as much as 15 hours of running for both of them. Ed Whitlock trains between 14 and 21. I my lowly crappy snail paced self used to run 18-24 hours/ week before children. If you run at a moderate - which is to say proper - pace then the ony limiting factors are external to running. Years ago I used to have these debates with a friend of mine. He thought 40 hard miles /week was enough. I advocated 140 easy and a few hard. I said that that was how the best in the world trained. Someone else chimed in that if 140/week was enough for Bill Rodgers, then we ought to be training 240 miles/week since we weren't nearly as talented. It was funny, but, now, looking back, I realize that he was right.
Can ones body recover properly from such high mileage? You know, including the fact that we're human and have to work 40 hours a week as well. That seems like an awful lot of work.
12-15 hours may not seem like a lot, but think about the amount of rest you need. Even as amateur runners, we get mentally tired and significantly less mileage can tire me out (become sleepy). In addition, they probably spend way more time stretching, taking care of injuries, etc...
well even if you are a snailhow much did all that mileage help you?did you see significant improvement in going from say 50mpw to 100mpw?

A lot of the mileage in a 100 mile week is recovery work, at an easy pace. One runner might be training too hard on 20 mpw while another is recovering well on 120 mpw plus a full time job.
