Any updates from Pikes Peak?
I saw Matt Carpenter was listed as a potential doubler, after winning the Ascent.
Any info?

I'm curious also. I know Carpenter was training there 2 weeks ago; but he probably trains there often. Where will results be posted?
Results are up now. Carpenter wins again in 3:48. Not bad for a 43yo guy who also won the PP Ascent yesterday. Congratulations to Matt!
When you look at the splits, it looks like Dave Mackey of Boulder was gaining on Carpenter. Mackey gained over 4 minutes on Carpenter on the descent. Carpenter won by less than 2 minutes. But then again Carpenter might have slowed down some at the end if he knew he had it wrapped up since he did win the ascent yesterday.
Waiting at the bottom of Ruxton Ave., the announcer gave the last update from the course - saying Dave and Matt were "neck and neck" at the Cog Railway, which is only ~1/2 mile from the finish. Obviously, he was exaggerating a little.
But Dave did run an amazing decent, one of the fastest in a long time. Matt may have been coasting a lot, until Dave got within 30 secs and scared him on the W's.
Tough day, for whatever reason. Hot, pressure conditions, whatever. PPM is a brutally difficult event, and those who truly race it are extremely tough athletes.
Amazed that so many "lowlanders" show up and finish.
Matt was pushed a bit in both races, so great double on his part obviously.
Wow, that's great - thanks for the story behind the results. Pikes Peak trashes you like no other, to put in a great performance like that the day after the Ascent is really incredible.
Way to go Matt!!
Every hat I own is off to Matt C. Dave M is an awesome runner, but Matt is obviously in super form ... as he's been for several decades. These guys may not have the foot speed of a Culpepper or Webb but for sheer aerobic power they are absolutely top-notch.
sitting about midway on ruxton matt looked like he had a bunch left in the tank. mackey came by 1:45 later, and may have packed it in at that point, but he looked spent. it was night and day. i'd guess it wasn't nearly that close.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
