Hello,
Great Owl sharing here on this post. I am writing here today to describe two recent Owl encounters. I have been trail hiking around my home in Tacoma WA. Two weeks ago about 6pm on a warm summer evening I was on a trail alone near Mashel Falls. I felt a strange presence and then a flush over my head. I realized I had been swooped by a bird from behind. I did not know where it went until a few feet ahead I saw a big beautiful Owl perched on a tree limb. I took some photos and it let me get very close to him. It stared at me as if to say — I’m not scared of you.
Last night I went hiking on a different trail; Swan Creek trail about the same time of evening. The same thing occurred. This time it was more intense. I felt a presence, then I felt a flush on my head. Into my eye sight I saw two large wings flap forming a perfect triangle. It was a moment of what I can only describe as ‘time freeze’. As though I was looking at a screen shot of a film. Time stopped briefly then I realized it was an Owl that had touched the top of my head. Like the previously one, it flew up into a tree a few feet in front of me. Strangely, this time he had his back to me. I caledl out to him and spoke to him several times but he would not acknowledge me. I asked him several questions. When I asked him if he was a messenger from God there suddenly was a large crash in the ravine. Like rocks sliding down over foliage and into the creek below. I have to say I was in a state. A state of wonder or shock. How did this happen twice within a very short period of time?
Who?
Ran for FSU back in the day. It used to get stifling hot in the Tallahassee summer months so I would wait until a 11-12 at night to get out for my runs. There's some pretty dodgy areas in the city and I was running through a neighborhood in one of those areas. I had a white hat on when something hit the back of my head hard and I felt a sharp pain as my hat removed. I ducked and rolled thinking I was being attacked. I looked up and there was a d*mn owl flying off with my hat. It dropped it a 100 meters or so down the road but the thing actually drew blood on my head. I remember laughing to myself the rest of my run thinking about how I had thought someone was attacking me and it was a hooting bird...Glad to see others have had the same quirky experiences.
