Point taken, but the term "liberal" does have a meaning, and a set of values associated with it. It does not mean "random collection of people with disparate beliefs." So, while they do not necessarily think the same across the board, their collective identity is one that would usually seem to contradict what Geb is saying up top, in that a liberal candidate is always in favor of higher taxes and increased government handouts. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Just saying...
Huh? Look at the quote again:
"People sometimes get angry with me, because I won't give money away. I tell them, if you want to work, I will find you work. I will give you a job with a good wage and I will take care of you. But a man cannot improve himself with free gifts, only with opportunity. When you find a child who wants to learn but cannot find a good school, or a man who wants to work and to better himself but he cannot find a job to help his family, that is where I must help. Work builds confidence." -Geb
Liberals want to increase education spending to provide better opportunities for people that take initiative for themselves. Liberals want to raise the minimum wage, so that people that want to work, can make a living wage while doing so. You think those poor bastards on government programs aren't working? Sure, that's the picture the conservatives have painted for you. But the reality is a majority of people on government assistance programs have, or are seeking, real work. There are a lot of people working overtime in sh!tty jobs at Taco Bell and the like and can't make enough money to pay for their child care. Liberals want to help these people. I doubt you'll find any liberal that says, "Yeah, it's ok to just lay around on your ass and do nothing and the government will take care of you." That's not the liberal agenda at all. Go educate yourself.
