Scholarship - whaaaat?!
Scholarship - whaaaat?!
so did you decide in the end?
Not decided just yet - am currently well out of shape!
Will get some miles under my belt before committing to either one... 34 min 10km seems like a pipe dream at the moment!
Agree winch is best. Its growing in the right direction- new dedictaed runners and good coaches who are enthusistic and hard working for their athletes. They will have a track soon for your tough track reps!
The distance guys will really push you hard in training sessions and are so dedicated and disciplined- Just what you need for success in the country!
Southampton are good for the track (ie, 800m and 1500m). Rod lock is a good coach and got Angus McClean to 3.39. Winchester seem more of a distance group. Is that because they have no track.
Now I'm really confused as to who you are... Seeing your posts RE Birchfield etc, and you also know the ins and outs of Winchester? Whats the connection?
soton is good too. wrote:

angus has recently moved to perth in australia as was struggling to find a job in the uk.
Well, once you've bought your council house, waited a few years and "withdrawn the equity" (= borrowed) for that 3-series Beemer & Victorian-style conservatory, then you switch from the Sun to the Daily Mail cos your "middle class". And they say any dream will do
Hmm, i just so happen to be sat at the computer waiting for my jacket potato to cook whilst youve replied to me. (Honestly its a coincidence, im not here all day)
If you are talking about people from the Eastleigh/Chandlers Ford area in general then you are quite possibly correct. But if it was a direct reference to me then its not so. In fact I already live in nice area of Chandlers Ford with my parents and would be far more likly to move downwards 'class wise' then up when I eventually move out and get somewhere of my own. However, I will be very happy with this and also have no motivation for a flash car, my Daewoo Matiz will serve me just fine.
I do however, like you're play on words with Saga...(if it was intentional that is?)
Gav,
It was intentional. A Saga lout is an oldie who "won't go quietly"
SL
PS. Respect for the Matiz
Hmm, you're more intellegent than I am, I thought it was just taking the first part of (Marek) Saganowski and using it instead of Lager lout because it rhymes!
The dream machine isn't technically mine yet either, another month or so until the envitably emotional handover from my mum.
O yeah, 'SL' isn't enough of a clue for me to work out who you are either...
jeez Gavin you give away far too much about yourself. I'll make sure I quote this all back to you in the Algarve in a suitably embarrasing environment.
Why is it that none of the articulate WInchester girlies avail themselves of the excellent learning opportunities that LetsRun offers? Emotional intelligence is all well and good but the malice and unfounded gossip on these threads is surely a part of any athlete's development, don't you think?
"you're more intellegent than I am"
- granted
SL= Saga Lout
haha indeed, now I feel silly! I thought you were giving me secret clues as to your true ID!
To DC - (Or Saga Lout if your the same person?)
Too right, they don't know what they are missing out on. Please do speculate as to how fast Miss Damens next half marathon could be if she only stopped wasting all her spare time on massage/extra core work etc etc and spent it instead discussing Phil Wicks spikes, or Nicholls latest hair cut.
As for myself, I become a working man on tuesday week, and will most likely have to either reduce my letsrun time or my actual running time. As a respected coach yourself, which would you reccomend for long term development?
I'm not DC but I can confirm that if you've got the RIGHT job, then your time on Letsrun can expand almost infinitely (DC obviously has...)

fine you freak,,,,have this !!
Didnt the talented John Beattie used to run for Southampton before Winchester? I Can see him having a huge xc season as he gets yet another injury-free block of training under his belt.
Did I hear something about Wicks' spikes???
"we fought a revolution to get rid of people like you.Ask your own message board."
hahahhahahhaa
Beattie will hopefully have a huge season but he will be doing in the USA this winter rather than over here. He went out to Tulsa at the weekend. Hopefully we will stil have a reasonabekly competitive team without him.
And LC you did hear something about Phil Wicks spikes, what do you think he will be sporting this season? Would you prefere to see him in a nice pair of nikes?
