i've been doing the calculations.
And to be fit for the Olympic games and end above the half. You'll need these performances
1 hour running power = 18500 meter.
1 hour cycling power = 5.2 watt/kg - 5.4 watt/kg i took guys between 70 -85 kilograms for the equitation.
T 30 swimming = 1'10" - 1'12"/100 meters.
those numbers equal around:
52 minute 40 km TT
5 km run in 14'45"
400 meter swim freestyle under 4'20" with good endurance
Anyone of this board secretly dreaming of participation?
I'm training myself(not running yet, and another athlete)
the other one actually has a decent shot at it. Small, muscular but a huge engine(vo2max last test 74.5 and began at 175 pounds at 64 as swimmer). He has a Bmi borderline fat ass.
At 165 pounds and 5'9" not quite the average endurance athlete but something like a tall(er) gymnast. Me at 180 pounds and far over the 6 mark am more above average in height but in the skinny devision. So the other way around. Currently giving him 22 hour weeks(me 16) of aerobic training with 5.5 hours of "heavy" lt-training(0.95 - 1.05 of lt-pace). Main training is swimming 9 hours a week.Followed by running 5.5 hours and cycling 7.5 hours. The swimming also has some real hard interval sets for both of us. Swimming is great to develop power. It directly helps in cycling. And is a decent base for running. The running and cycling is never in the killer zone.We do sprints in cycling of 15 seconds on the cts trainer(we also do all our lt training on that cts with or bikes, never outside. It has kept us from falling).
This is what is the labor here.I wonder what you guys do to try to realize the dream.I know there's triathletes here and having aspiration can only make you better. I know that I probably never enter it, but at least I've had the experience of doing them trials(Anyone can do them here). And training a mate who has a decent chance(really close to them targets above). And i enjoy the training time any minute. Meet old friends new friends, train like 8 hours a week with my pal as(me) trainer and Training Partner(I am a bit slower in the pool though, and no running yet for me).
All i do i give him times when he does his course.
