The interview linked below with Peter Gilmore is a good listen. He talks a lot about tomorrow's race and it is interesting to hear him discuss how much he has enjoyed spending time with (and for his sake - taking LOTS of notes) Hendrick Ramaala. If you have 15 minutes - def give it a listen
It also got me thinking and I was taking a look at the p.r.'s for the top competitors in tomorrow's NYC Half-Marathon and i really started to wonder if Gilmore even had a shot.
Obviously a solid performance by Gilmore, where he finishes ahead of even just 1 or 2 of the top elites (Ramaala, Geb, Culpepper, Abdi, Cheruiyot, Korir, and Kwambai), would be be a tremendous moment in his career.
At the same time, maybe he should have skipped this because there is a chance he could be seriously embarassed. As he preps for the Olympic trials - this is not the time to risk having your confidence wiped - especially since the hasn't competed in a race since April in Boston.
What are your thoughts?
