Thankfully she no longer has responsibility for Olympic sports.
Who, exactly, is responsible for Olympic sports at Cal? The A.D.'s office website says the position is TBA.
Sandoval, Miller and Slover (part time, vault only, right?) certainly have their hands full.
Didn't Stanford just let go a good jumps coach (from a sports administration position)? Rembao?
That's very interesting because late last week I noticed Teresa Kuehn-Gould listed as Deputy Director of Athletics/SWA and there was another person listed as Director of Olympic Sports Operations....could have been "Josh" somebody but that is a wild guess.
Re Teresa K-G's promotion sure looks the Peter Principal in action, could be a great case study at Haas!
The way Cal has handled this track coach hiring is an insult to our sport. They would never treat a football or basketball hire this way. It would be done and move on, no way ever would there be an interim named after three months. It's disrespectful to our sport.
Rembao didn't leave the Farm, did he? I think he just applied for the NAU job, but didn't get any love.
From an AD's POV our sport is peanuts and bird food. Football is steak and lobster. Deal with it.
You're right, but that's not the attitude that gets positive response from alums such as the late Brian Maxwell, Goldman etc who have donated millions of $s.
I know that this is after the fact and the interim staff has been hired but I it's just another example of how poorly this process was managed. To be fail this courtesy candidate had a long breakfast with SB and then was left hanging for several weeks!!
Rumor has it that the "courtesy candidate" had 10 minutes with Her Holiness and that the student athletes scheduled to interview didn't show up as a protest that he lacked the qualifications!
He's a great person but does not have the experience to mamage a D1 track program.
Do they have a sprint coach or a throws coach yet?
I believe that an announcement is "forthcoming".
At some stage I hope that the powers that be at Cal recogize that without Tony Sandoval and Ed Miller the program would be in very serious trouble. Their loyalty to their athletes, the track program and Cal as a whole should not go unnoticed.
