Greatest sport deserves the greatest venue.

I've never seen a traffic jam at either ISU or IU.
I agree with SC42--there needs to at least be some hills. The course is just too flat.
Anyone else old enough to remember Steve Martin calling Terra Haute "the most nowhere city in America," in 1979? The townsfolk took it personally, and they burned him in effigy downtown. He later apoligized, saying, "I really meant to say that Lubbock, Texas is the most nowhere place."
I wouldn't have a problem with it being at the same place for several years, but there needs to be a better balance between the hills and the flats.
Who has hills, AND has bid to host nationals? The ncaa committee is not steering the meet to ISU for its flat course.
How come Oklahoma State doesn't host it? They have a very tough course. (I apologize if thats been mentioned I didn't have time to read the whole thread)
Ok State does not meet the course requirements.
What exactly are the course requirements?

So basically since they have the 2 cattle barriers and a few sharp corners they cannot host the NCAA championships? Have they not hosted regionals in the past? Like stated about Furman, can't you host the NCAA's if you can host a regional?
more inportantly, it is time to move the meet to a weekend...monday is absurd

Well the cattle guards are big part but also the path isn't wide enough, the start stretch isn't long enough and it's not spectator friendly. Parking could also be a problem. Also could Stillwater handle the NCAA championships for hotels and food? For regionals at OSU next year they had to agree to remove the cattle guards for the meet.
Lastly, there is a little leniency for a regional course vs. a national course as far as the requirements go.
But does the OSU course still smell like a 4-H fair? That would give it a "down home" feeling.
The path is wide enough, it just doesn't have wood chips covering it the entire width. The branches and everything are pared back enough for it to be more than 10 meters wide as the rule states. The opening path could easily be extended width wise. The parking is definately an issue though as you state, I do agree from past experience. Though I think the town could definately handle the hotel and food accomodation, plus most everyone stays in Indy anyways, Oklahoma City and other small towns with hotels and food aren't that far away. I mean Oklahoma City is 45 minutes away, thats not that bad of a drive, and it has everything you'd need.
This is kind of like the "Why doesn't so and so host the Olympic Trials? Or OT Marathon?" questions. If ya don't bid, ya don't get it.
My vote goes for Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, KY!!!!!! That has been the site of a number of NAIA regional and national races.
