Appears that Enrique Guerrero (9th at NCAA XC last year), and Jose Merino ('02 steeple champ) are not on this year's roster and absent from any early season results. Without these guys is Adams still a #3 team?

Oh yeah, it also appears that Daniel Nohava (30th at '01 NCAA XC) is gone.
Don't be so sure. If you're just going off of early season results then I don't know how factual your statement is. Many times coaches won't run their entire squad until later in the season. If you have actually looked at a team roster from the team site, then you may actually have something.
SD State and Harding look pretty good for those 3,4 spots if Adams is in fact w/ out these guys. Of course this is all right now. I'm sure they'll bring it at the end of the season. They always do.
adams always pulls it together at the end of the season and they have a solid 14:30 guy in ewen north and a couple of other transfers. you can never count out davis or chico as well as sd state is running very tough. we will get a good test when we race davis at chile pepper. 2 of our top 5 guys did not run all summer and have only been training a month so look for big jumps from them. it should be an intersting season.
Adams is always going to be a tough team no matter who is on their roster. Every year they get counted out, or someone makes them seem like they are going to be soft, but then they come to nationals and prove everyoone wrong. Look back to last year at slippery rock, going in I think that someone put them at like 9th or something and they finished a strong 3rd. Last year Moreno's only good season was outdoors, he really wasn't a factor in their top 7 last year. But I could be wrong, the year is still early. We will just have to see what happens in 2 months.
