Fun.
Damn! I want to race my ass off, with snot and sweat running down my face, stagger and puke at the finish line, on my hands and knees, and aim for a time. But oh no no no...this is a Fun Run. That kind of behaviour is frowned upon and discouraged. "It's not a race you know." (I once got told that while behaving in this apalling manner.)
There are too many Fun Runs these days.

This is a prime example of the egocentric nature of today's youth. Rather than go out and do the legwork necessary to secure an opportunity, they expect the world to change for their benefit. This is laziness and selfishness at its worst. "I want this, I want that..." Well what about what others want or need. The world does not revolve around you!
Thank goodness there are still caring, generous, and altruistic people in this world to coordinate these events -- whether they be fun runs or competitive races.
To the OP: do us all a favor and make sure you never go into coaching. You obviously lack the motivation, work ethic, devotion, and willingness to put other first.
