Thank you for asking about the camp.
Currently, we meet twice a week, and rotate the sites. There are high school athletes attending from 5 different high schools (Wheaton N, Wheaton Academy, Naperville Central, Lyons Township and Glenbard West). This Friday we will meet at Blackwell Forest perserve on Butterfield road off of Winfield road, and thinking Kathryn Legy park (spelling?) in Hinsdale next week Friday.
You are more than welcome to come, for any of these workouts. I also give the athletes daily training for the days I do not see them.
We started off in June running about 22-26 mins of workout time, and yesterday the lead group hit 40 mins. My goal is to have your pulse up over a period of time, and not let anyone run hard. I would hope that when you left, you would say it was too easy. You don't want to run fast in July to get better - but within yourself. When you get back to your high school coach in August and September, that is when you can increase the intensity.
I do split the group up as fitness will dictate - yesterday at the end, their were 3 different groups.
Their is a fee for the camp, and you can pay for the summer, monthly or weekly. As I work for ASICS, I want the group to have the option to be an ASICS runner. I thnk by the time the camp is over, they will have received a lot of free stuff (JSRC t-shirt, ASICS floor mat, key chain, down load card, stickers, hats, binders, and of course I want the group to have the option to train in ASICS apparel and wear ASICS shoes if they want. Maybe when you start with your HS coach in August, the camp may be free? with the free product and discounts.
I did send out letters to Du Page area high schools, letting coaches know about the camp. I also let your coach know that if they would like to look at ASICS product for their teams, I can help as well, working with a retailer of their choice.
If you high school coach would like to see what we are doing, I can send them an e-mail. When your season starts in August, my camp finishes.
Let me know how I can help. It's great to be alive!
