Only one the the most successful 1500m runners in NCAA Meet history.
I'd be willing to bet it's Rob Myers (even though the B-day for Dub matches) Dub sounds like Rob, get it?
well i did a quick google search and i had forgotten that he was a former duck. he ran 3:37 at the tender age of 20 and seems to still be going at it. what's the master's record for the 800?
I don't believe Dub has run a race in 20 years.
I\'ve already emailed the web site to have it updated to Rob Myers. You can see the race on Flocast
Dub Myers was a gun (back in the day) and only 3 years older than Sorreson!
wow I was going to say. If Dub was still running that fast at his age, shit. Well that's a pretty good run for Rob Myers. What is his PR in the 8? Hopefully he can run a good 15 later this year. He needs a good one to build his confidence back up.
Myers' PR in the 800 is 1:47 I believe. Ran that at a small meet in Indiana prior to the Olympic Trials in '04 as a tune up.
He's got more speed that 1:47--for sure.
I see Dub every 5 years or so at my HS reunion - he married a classmate of mine - I believe he is now a Pastor.
Myers sure does need a good race. After placing 3rd at 2004 Trials and his 3:53 mile, he has stalled. I am pretty sure he has run faster than 1:47 in the 800 (deifinitely more an 8/15 guy than true distance runner).
Dub Myers was a great miler. Certainly could have run faster than his 3:37, which he did as a sophomore. Finished second in 1984 to Joaquim Cruz in 3:37 at the 1984 NCAA's as a 19 year old. Ran 3:57 as a Freshman at Oregon. Won the 1983 Junior USATF's over Mike Stahr, and his roomate in college, Harold Kuphaldt.
Classic Dub Myers moment was in the 1984 Olympic Trials. Last lap, three hundred to go, sitting in 10th place, hits the accelerator and goes from 10th at the start of the backstretch to 3rd place and almost running over Steve Scott and Jim Spivey at the end of the backstretch. You could see on the telly that he was wearing fruit of the looms underneath those old Oregon Adidas short they wore back then. Then I think he wasn't sure what to do next because he faded and was passed by Sydney Maree, Chuck Aragon and Tim Hacker. Not bad though for a 19 year old.
I agree he has not taken off.
Has placed well indoors and made a couple Worlds teams.
Heard he has gone through a divorce this last summer.
Back at OSU and training hard again. He'll be focused in 08 and going after an Olympic spot!
that is f***ing fast for 43. not that you guys didn't know that, i'm just saying. f***
