The movie is actually a cleverly executed hoax. As for the book, I guess you could borrow it from somebody. Either that or pay the 80 bucks on Ebay.
i cant afford that
somebody copied the pages into a pdf file but i dont remember where it is. does anybody know where this would be?
put in an interlibrary loan request

agreed. Too me it was very dated. Granted I read it as a 35 year old. Maybe if I'd read it when I was in HS it would have had more registerd more.
What a joke. I bought the thing from Amazon a few years ago for about 5 or 6 bucks. I just went there today and they want $98! It was a good read, but get the heck outta here.
The book is a fun read - but not at all well written. A bit melodramatic, but what the hell - gets your heart racing a couple of times.
Since I've already read it, you can have my copy for the cost of the postage.
ill take your copy for the price of postage..
I'll take price of postage plus 5 bucks...
(look how quickly this will turn into ebay)
You might try local running specialty stores, as they often still have stock from the last reprint.
the book is a great read and worth the money i got mine on amazon and would buy it again if i lost it, in my opinion the best book fiction or non on running, my only question is when does again to carthage come out (the sequal)
I recommend the investment
Best running book I've ever read, and one of my favorite books of all time.
I don't know if it's worth the $50 or whatever it's fetching on eBay. I think there are some fairly cheap copies laying around Amazon.com last time I looked.
Try this thread...

I've seen this thread a hundred times. It seems that you can get the book anywhere cheap. I have one and I think it sucks and have been willing to sell it....
Try buying it on Amazon or somewhere similar. I got mine for 15 bucks. If you try to buy it on E-Bay you are wasting your time.
I'm just curious, were you a runner when you were teenager? I read it as a 40+er and it brought me back. The dedication and love of running those guys had reminded me of when I was young.

Kind of like when you get to the 60's and 70's parts in Bowerman and the Men of Oregon. Runners who were dedicated, not to earn money, but simply to be the best they could be.
