The race itself sucked. It was a horribly boring race for 4500 meters. To give this race more than 2 minutes of air time would be harmful to our sport. This race is why the average joe is not interested in Track. I was at the meet and you could watch a good portion of the crowd talking amongst themselves during most of the race. It was ideal conditions and you have guys falling off of the pace when it was still 14:00 pace. THE 5K WAS BAD TRACK.
It was a tactical race. Too bad you don't know the difference between a race and a time trial. The avg. joe is not interested in track because so many track geeks cannot focus on the drama of the race, but are stuck on split times and calculating mile pace and focused on who runs what time, often disregarding who finishes in what place, concentrating on who finishes in what time, for which the avg. joe has no frame of reference.
