God bless the NYTimes for trying to be responsible journalists, but since when do Chi and Pose count as anything other than gimmicks (as Jason Friedman helpfully points out at the end of the article)? His quote should be the take home message: "There's no substitute for hard work and just getting out and doing the miles."
I'm torn about whether or not this sort of attention is good for the sport. But maybe this is just another case of my "fat Americans should exercise more, and we should do whatever it takes to make that happen" instinct fighting with my "get those damn penguins out of my way -- I'm gonna PR!" instinct.
