It's not that I think that they're hatching evil plans. I think that they are so preoccupied with the glory of a dominant football program that they have lost sight of what's in the best interest of the students of NJ. We will continue to see increases in football expenditures, despite university-wide budget cuts. A 44,000 seat stadium simply cannot bring in the revenue that a big time football program requires, which means that expansion is inevitable.
Expanding the football training facilities, in addition of the stadium, requires a serious increase in football money. To help come up with those funds, they cut 6 teams. The Rutgers athletic department can no longer proudly display its uniquely extensive list of sports - instead, the direction of the department is to become just another D1 football powerhouse, devoid of anything special.
