I have worn Nike's lightweight performance trainers for 5 years now(Skylon, Milers, Elite, etc.), would trying the Zoom Marathoners be the natural progression for a minimalist? Also, does anyone have experience with the Marathoners and their durability compared to the previously mentioned lightweight performance Nike trainers?
Why change with what works?
How about change what doesn't work? I'm glad someone brought up minimalism because I am getting fed up with being injured and am tempted to try it. I've tried more cushioning, I've tried three different sets of orthotics. Nothing is helping. I was about to buy some shoes earlier this evening. Normally, I'd walk right in, buy my Mizuno Wave Riders, and leave. While I love the fit of Riders, the sales woman let me try on some Precisions. I liked them. I know the Precisions aren't exactly full-blown minimalist shoes, but I'm thinking they could be a nice way to transition. But of course, there's that voice inside my head telling me I need more cushioning. So I still have not made up my mind which shoes to get. If minimalism really works, I also have a pair of unworn Idatens I bought on sale a while back, hoping I could race in them some day. I naturally land on my midfoot/forefoot anyway, so it wouldn't be too difficult.
