I'd like to lose about 10 lbs. of body fat (not water) in one week. I can probably get by on 1000 calories a day. With that, how many miles would I need to run in the next 7 days to lose the weight.

Your name and thread title brought back the memory of one of the greatest sports movies of all time. Plus I loved Red Rider's song Lunatic Fringe.

Great movie. I was just out of college and training my ass off. Great inspiration. The journey song was better though.
Tanneran: I think you're dehydrated.
Louden Swain: No, I'm just the victim of a screwed-up nitrogen imbalance. Plus, I think I've contracted priapism.
Tanneran: What's priapism?
Louden Swain: It's a disease of a constant erection.
Louden Swain: It's not funny, believe me! The girl of my dreams lives under my own roof, but she thinks I'm just a kid, a dumb jock, all of which is more or less true. I'm dying, Mr. Tanneran, just like that girl in the poem... only quicker, and with a hard-on.
Great fight scene!
Great movie indeed. However, I still need some input on how to lose the weight. It would be much appreciated.
You're not losing 10 lbs of body fat in one week. Not gonna happen.
You will need to run a negative calorie balance of 5000 calories per day.
Assuming your daily requirement is somewhere in the neighboorhood of 3000 calories per day (collegiate or HS level distance runner, normal activity not including training) That means you will need to burn an additional 2000 calories per day.
That is in the neighboorhood of 15-20 miles per day, depending on a number of variables. However, here is where it gets tricky, you have to maintain all the other calorie burning stuff you do during the day, or you will have to jack up the mileage even further.
The long and short of it is, losing weight that fast is unhealthy. 1000 calories per day is incredibly low. Shoot for 1-2 pounds per week and live healthy. You will run better and be happier for it.
