No, I haven't been asked 1000 times as I suck. Only kidding but im certainly not good enough for too many people to care.
I don't know what to tell you about the injury. I almost had surgery on it last month. I just didn't think it was 100% certain that I needed it and decided I'd put it off. I had to take 6 weeks off before the surgery and wasn't running enough for it too really hurt and then school started and thus I can't have surgery until after NCAAs in NOv.
I'm pretty much 100% focused (I hate when people say 110% as that makes no sense) on being a college coach right now. I got tired of waiting on the freaking thing to heal and took the job at Cornell. It's basically a dream job for me. Which explains why I'm in the office at 10:30 p.m. on a Friday night recruiting.
JK is a freaking genius and it's time his philosophy got out there. That's why we started this website and that's my main motivation to coach. I always thought I knew a lot better at running and would be a much better coach than I am runner anyway. I just started my career sooner than I thought.
I've been running with the guys but not training at all. I ran 10 miles in 60:43 last weekend at a local race with some guys who don't compete in XC. Wasn't exactly easy but not exactly a cup of tea either.
I may start doing workouts. I must be doing about 70 miles some weeks - although maybe not as I miss at least one day a week due to team commitments.
I did run 2 hours a few weeks ago. I keep thinking that it's going to hurt each time I stress it but it doesn't hurt too bad. I may have surgery after the xc season is over if it hurts. That's my plan, run enough on it and do a few workouts to see if it hurts. If i want to make the trials, I need to start training by December.
I did some strides today as I figure it's time to start training. I'm set up here and need to either train or freaking hang em up. I don't do well just going for runs. I need something to focus on.
Doesn't feel great but we'll see. I may hop into a tempo tomorrow.
My bet: I end up having surgery in mid-november after NCAA XC.
Thanks for asking though.

What's the injury? (I've been injured for over a year now -- stress fracture of the ischium, and probably a lot of scarred and inflamed connective tissue at the attachment to the hamstring. I'm considering surgery as well.)
You're right, that is great recruiting. I wish I was a fast high school senior.
If JK is such a genius, how come his two disciples are continually crippled with injuries?
Funny how someone like Wetmore gets bashed for running his guys into the ground while JK goes unscathed...
If you paid attention you would know that Wejo's injury is not a result of Jk's training but of a nerve problem resulting from biomechanical problems.
As for Rojo, I am not sure, but these are the first injuries they have both had in years.
Further, both have noted that they PR'ed every year except this one since starting with JK.
Ckeck your facts before running your mouth so you do not look like an idiot.
How come on the Cornell XC site the only men's coach listed is Nathan Taylor?
It's probably preaching to the choir, but if you are not getting that achilles in an ice bath after every run then you are not setting a good enough example for your athletes. When your achilles are inflamed icing hurts like hell, but there is almost nothing better for them. It will be the most valuable 15 minutes of your training effort each day. If your XC program does not have an ice bath, then steal one from the football guys.
Here's how this topic should have gone:

Instead we have many people posting in this thread. Why?
Exactly why was the former coach Jerry Smith fired? I really dont want rumors or trash talk, just the facts please.
Hes a great guy, and a local running legend, but something of an odd character, and I was just curious.
Email me directly if you want.
