Looks that way.

Richmond loses their top guy...but is that it?
Looks like their sixth was a bit back but I'm sure they'll get SOMEONE.
maybe next year?
he wasn't their top guy for the whole season... the kid, matt llano, who was the one who went out way too fast and gapped the field by 50 meters in the first quarter and finished something like 12th... he's their top guy and benford should be their two. And what happened to Hunter Willis? 12th at xc conf. last year and a 30:xx 10k guy coming in 41?
I don't like the lasalle we're so tough attitude, but they consistantly smack the A-10 around. And the instant they win the conference again, people turn it into scholarship talk. Torpey is a good coach. Smug and obnoxious, but a damn good coach who breeds runners and loyalty like few others. Maybe Centrowitz. Good job Explorers. Also, how about temple running 6 Freshmen. I hope they bring a team back around in the years to come.
i think though, this year the scholarship talk regarding la salle vs. others is legitimate because the team they beat by 17 pts (and 42 combined seconds) has none.

There is something to be noted about that. The University of Richmond has a little over 3000 students. LaSalle University has a little over 4000 students.
Endowment Size:
Richmond - 1.65 BILLION$$
LaSalle - 55 MILLION$$
Very few of those kids are paying a lot of money to go there, probably less then La Salle kids and definitely less then Temple which is a state school (I know!)
I know for a fact that the women's program is fully funded and the men's has absolutely zero scholarships.[/quote]
A fact huh? the women are NOT fully funded!
isn't there a way to prove who is right? I can't find a website, but i'm sure there is one.
ps i think they are fully funded, if they weren't, you'd figure that bc the school has so much money, the girls would then go full so the guys would get that equal amount that is added.
whole lottta love wrote:

They aren't fully funded (anymore), the athletic department made budget cuts a few years ago. The University of Richmond isn't using their endowment to fund athletics especially a "minor" sport like XC. In fact the endowment doesn't really pay for anything - it's just a neat thing to talk about in Alumni Magazines and post on school websites. The entire purpose of the endowment is to have a larger endowment than everyone else - not to actually spend it. But this whole discussion, although interesting, really isn't important. Sure it's easier to recruit with scholarships but I don't see an asterik next to any of LaSalle's titles (nor should there be) - they ran hard and earned the win. And the Richmond guys should be proud of how hard they ran and how much they're improved (as should their coach) and take pride in their runner up finish. The A-10 doesn't give out a trophy for the top non-scholarship program.
you are exactly right, as well as it doesn't matter- Im sure the coach at Richmond is not happy losing with or without scholarships and the women continue to be at the top of the conference though having funding cuts. They ran great and LaSalle continues to win so obviously their coach is doing something right as well.
does anyone know what the heck happened to charlotte out there?
talking about teams and scholorships...richmond 2nd, zero scholorships. charlotte 9th, almost every member of the team is on atleast a partial ride. Eckard and Lowry are close to full scholorship i think. so what did happen to charlotte?
What happened to Charlotte? Well they were all comfy with their money scholarships and grand locker room, being all pampered, while those fools from Richmond toughed it out without such amenities as scholarships and locker rooms. Roughing it. Other teams should try.
I have friends at Charlotte and here is the word. The problem with Charlotte is that the coach does not know what the hell he is doing. He has no business coaching a dog to go piss. All that he does is yell, "Mother F***ing, F***". Those guys would be better off without him. Also, all the guys on the team know that Eckerd is just a pot head. If he is not running, eating, or sleeping he has a joint in his mouth. He brags about it all the time. They need to do some major drug testing. He does not deserve to be on the same course as true athletes who work hard and take care of their body.
Come to think of it, Eckard does look like a lazy pot head.
yeah but come to think of it, he wins A-10 championships...
Yo (F1)
Someone sounds alittle jealous of Eckerd's talent, you have no proof of his smoking or any other wrong doing, and do you really think someone can just do nothing and run what he has run in the 8 and 15? So just watch it because you may think you know what your talking about but you really don't
If there was fight between the A10 schools how would the sides break down(what schools would team up against what schools) and what side would win? And if it was just a free-for-all what school and who would win? What if we added the track people from each school?
Yo - I have seen him stoned out of his head.I don't run the same events as him and I don't do drugs. What have I got to be jealous about?
